Call for Steward Nominations posted Sept. 5, 2013
It is that time of year again... as we approach the time of our next general meeting, some Stewards' terms are coming to an end. Please read this call for OPSEU Local 365 Steward nominations.
Stewards are the backbone of our union, facilitating communications between members and the Local Executive, and helping union members with any workplace issues they might have. In addition, stewards meet about once per month. For more detail about a Stewards' responsibilities, please read OPSEU's document Roles and Responsibilities of Local Union Officers.
Please consider becoming a Steward of OPSEU Local 365.
With you as a Steward, our union will be that much stronger! Nominations must be received by 4 p.m. Wednesday September 18.

OPSEU Flexible Benefit Now Useable at Multiple Food Vendors On Campus

OPSEU Local 365 members can now apply part or all of their flexible benefit ($250) towards food from the following food campus vendors: Aramark, the Planet North (Atheltic Complex), the Ceilie (Champlain College), and the Seasoned Spoon (Champlain College Senior Common Room). 2012/2013 Nancy Simmons Smith Staff Award of Excellence:

The Nancy Simmons Smith Staff Award recognizes excellence and exceptional commitment to the University in the performance of core functions and special assignments by non-academic employees of the University. The Award is named in recognition of Nancy Simmons Smith, former University Secretary and Secretary of the Board of Governors from 1987 to 2008.
Throughout her career as a senior administrator, Nancy advocated tirelessly for the recognition of non-academic staff and their contributions to the University.
The Award is supported by an endowment and comprises a cash gift of $500 and a framed citation presented each year to a Trent staff member. The Award is presented at the Board of Governors meeting in May.
To be eligible, a staff member must have a minimum service of five continuous years at Trent University. The award may only be granted once during a staff member's career. The recipient of this award is determined by the Staff Awards Sub-Committee of the President and Vice-President's Executive Committee.
Trent University students, faculty, alumni and staff are invited to submit nominations for the Nancy Simmons Smith Staff Award of Excellence to the Office of the President, Bata Library. The Sub-Committee will assess candidates' contributions against established criteria. The deadline for submissions is April 1, 2013.

OPSEU Local 365 Ratification Vote Wed. July 18 posted July 12, 2012
There will be a ratification vote next Wednesday (July 18) in the Wenjack Theatre at Trent University.Str
- A question and answer session will run 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
- The vote will take place 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
- There will be no proxy voting.
- Your supervisors have been notified and you are allowed to attend the full two-hour meeting.
The full tentative settlement will be posted here by end of day Friday July 13. Paper copies will be available Monday for those lacking computer access.
There will be three information sessions held early next week, where you can drop by and ask the team questions about the tentative settlement:

NOTE: We've had some difficulty
with keeping the web links in the Voice intact when the document is
