Confederation of Ontario University Staff Associations & Unions (COUSA)
Founded in 1974, the Confederation is an umbrella group of unionized and non-unionized staff organizations at Ontario universities. The membership includes administrative, clerical, professional and technical occupational groups.
Council of Canadians
Founded in 1985, The Council of Canadians is Canada's pre-eminent citizens' watchdog organization, comprised of over 100,000 members and more than 70 Chapters across the country. Strictly non-partisan, the Council lobbies Members of Parliament, conducts research, and runs national campaigns aimed at putting some of the country's most important issues into the spotlight: safeguarding our social programs, promoting economic justice, renewing our democracy, asserting Canadian sovereignty, advancing alternatives to corporate-style free trade, and preserving our environment.
National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE)
The National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) is a family of 15 component unions. Taken together we are the second largest union in Canada. Most of our 337,000 members work to deliver public services of every kind to the citizens of their home provinces. We also have a large and growing number of members who work for private businesses.
Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA)
OCUFA seeks to maintain and enhance the quality of higher education in Ontario, and to advance the professional and economic interests of teachers, researchers, and librarians in Ontario universities.
Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL)
The Ontario Federation of Labour is the province's "house of labour", or central labour body. Just as workers unite in a union to protect their rights, so also do unions unite in central labour bodies to further their aims and objectives.
Ontario Public Service Union of Employees (OPSEU)
With approximately 100,000 full- and part-time members, nearly 500 locals, and 20 offices across Ontario, OPSEU is the third largest union in the Ontario.
Peterborough and District Labour Council
The Peterborough and District Labour Council (PDLC) is the central body of union locals in the Peterborough area (Peterborough County plus Omemee) who are affiliated with the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC).
